Store Security Info:

Q: Is the cart information submitted from Company Store secure?

A: Our site uses the latest technology to help ensure that private information remains as safe as possible.  All of the "check out" information (including credit card information) is sent to servers via an SSL-encrypted connection using industry standard encryption.  All sensitive information is stored on our secure servers, and we protect the confidentiality of this information pursuant to our corporate privacy policy.

When checking out, please note that there is no "s" at the end of "http" in the address bar at the top of your screen because the secure page is in a frame.  With frames, only the address of the main page appears in the address bar.  If you were to open the lower-right frame in a brand new window, then you would see the "https" designation.  There is indeed an "https" in that frame's address, you just cannot see it.  Right-click somewhere in an open area (i.e. not over a graphic, field, or text) of the cart frame, then select Properties.  Internet Explorer will show you the address (URL) of the frame and it will begin with https showing that the page is secure.

Q: How is credit card information handled? Does the site comply with industry data security requirements?

A: All credit card information is handled consistent with leading information technology security practices.  We comply with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard.  Our sites are routinely tested for compliance by a certified independent third party testing organization.

Q: How can I be assured that the site will  keep my data secure?

A: All of our servers are located in facilities within the United States.  Our vendor owns all of its own servers and network infrastructure equipment.  We constantly monitor our network's performance and we can proactively make any network changes that might be required to address very high volume sites.  Our network currently supports tens of thousands of customer sites in addition to the rest of our services and we have plenty of room for expansion.  We maintain multiple connections to the public Internet for redundancy and bandwidth management.  We have backup power for our data centers provided by both battery and generator systems.

We use a variety of industry-standard security measures to protect all of servers and the data stored on them.  These measures include encryption of certain data, redundant firewalls, multiple layers of virus protection, and restricted access to our network operations centers, servers and data.  Physical access to our network operations centers is limited to select staff through a key-card system, with video surveillance and a state-of-the-art security system.

Q: Have these servers undergone independent vulnerability testing?

A: Yes, our network is tested by independent third party organizations on a routine basis in addition to our own routine internal testing.

Q: How are user IDs and Passwords stored on the servers?

A:  We use industry-standard encryption and storage methods to protect sensitive information like passwords.  For security purposes, we do not provide additional details regarding specific network design or storage methods.
